I confess that I have not always enjoyed Mr Grundy’s beers, but I’m pleased that I came here. It is an appealing pub – spacious and a little quirky, with much memorabilia to admire. Busy with Sunday lunchtime diners, most of whom were arriving by car I noticed.
Mr Grundy's - 1914 God Save The King Stout | 5.00 | | A dark, roasty Stout/Porter. |
Mr Grundy's - Big Willie | 4.30 | | Recommended to me by the barmaid, without a hint of embarrassment. Golden, with a pleasant, citrusy hop bite. |

I stopped here on the way in to the centre of Derby, it was a glorious sunny afternoon and the vast majority of customers appeared to be outside, and drinking lager.
Mr Grundy's - Britannic | 3.60 | | I did not enjoy this, I found it cloyey, and sticky. |

Mr Grundy's - No Man's Land | 4.50 | Not Tried
Silver Brewhouse (formerly Raw) - JR Best Bitter | 4.20 | Not Tried

Increasingly busy late on a Saturday afternoon.
Ashover - Poets' Tipple | 4.00 | | Well balanced amber brew with malt just dominating over hop. The finish is quite fruity. My score 15/20. |
Derventio - Cleopatra | 5.00 | | Pale strong bitter with a strong peach fruity hop flavour. Bitterness kicks in towards the finish. My score 13/20. |

Fairly quiet late on a Friday afternoon.
Mr Grundy's - Passchendaele | 3.90 | | Pale bitter with good citrus hop character leading to a fruity finish. My score 15/20. |
Mr Grundy's - Trenchfoot | 3.80 | | Malty amber bitter with little hoppiness and a dryish malt character. My score 14/20. |

Mr Grundy's - No Man's Land | 4.50 | | Reddish thick malty brew. Lots of toffee malt flavours but not one for hop lovers. My score 15/20. |
Derventio - Standard Bearer | 4.50 | | Amber bitter with dry, bitter hop character. My score 14/20. |
