Busy but not overly for mid-afternoon and was met with a warm, friendly service. Not been to this old Victorian pub in North Bromley before. Lovely looking and well preserved with original bar fittings and fireplaces or otherwise very nicely rescued from elsewhere and put in. A shame also only one cask like the Crown & Anchor just up the road.

| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | | Good head and lacing on this Bury St Edmunds brew. A sharp first hit. A hoppy mouthfeel with a slight hint of vinegar. After my half was served there seemed to be much pulling of the handpump to signal another cask of it was being prepared. |

I wasn't going to visit this pub but chose to do so as heavens opened after leaving the Red Lion and I'm glad I did. Cosy comfortable back street local. Late afternoon and a handful of customers.
