Busy as ever here.
Falstaff - Rod Stewart4.30AcceptableSurprisingly this was a mild and I only found out because the previous customer to me rejected it after a taster showed it was dark. On closer inspection the pumpclip did mention mild. The beer itself was black and true to Falstaff style, rather thin with a dry, powdery malt flavour and a short dry finish. My score 15/20.
07 May 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Milestone - Classic Dark Mild4.00GoodBlack mild with a dryish, malty character. The finish is dry with a hint of dark chocolate. My score 15/20.
28 Apr 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Almost full to capacity although I managed to get a seat at the rear of the pub,
Derventio - Maia Mild4.00ExcellentOn form here, a classic example of an East Midlands mild, black and fruity with hints of liquorice and a big chocolate malt kick. My score 16/20.
07 Jan 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Nottingham - Foundry Mild4.70GoodNot as good as it could be, I suspect a fairly old sample with vineous flavours taking over from the usual chocolate malt. My score 15/20.
13 Oct 2011 (Mick)
Spoons pub, enough said, but they did have a beer festival on.
St Austell - Proper Black5.00GoodDark stout, some coffee but with a good hop bitterness, nice.
09 May 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Titanic - Nautical Mild4.80GoodDark brown strong mild with hints of chocolate and liquorice. The finish is quite bitter. My score 15/20.
