Bank Holiday lunchtime - busy but not crowded. Pleasant meal on the second floor.
Purity - Mad Goose | 4.20 | | Second pint better. |
Purity - Mad Goose | 4.20 | | First pint rather tired - I suspect there is a very long pipe run to the second floor. |

Jam packed full of people in the early evening. Many are outside enjoying the warm sunshine. I join a CAMRA pub crawl group of around a dozen. Between us we try all four cask beers (I forget the name of the fourth) – none are found to be in particularly good nick.
Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - Zephyr | 4.40 | | Somewhat reddish in colour. Australian hop flavours, but dulled by flat condition. |
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
East London (ELB) - Orchid Vanilla Mild | 3.60 | Not Tried

Pre-shopping trauma pint. I’ve not been in here since the week this pub opened. It’s actually quite smart, and seems to have a good after-work trade.
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Wells / Dogfish Head DNA | 4.50 | | Amber-coloured. Fruity US hop tastes, but not quite as full-on as I would like. |
Adnams - Broadside | 4.70 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried

A leaving "do" was the reason I visited this place. I won't be rushing to return.
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Young's London Gold | 4.00 | | Golden and tasteless artificial beer flavoured water served in a souless barn. My score 10/20. |

Still very new, a few contractors appeared to be doing a bit of snagging. The staff were very enthusiastic and chatty, one told me that he was keen to promote the sale of jellied eels which are on the menu. I settled for a home-made scotch egg which was delicious.
Redemption - Pale Ale | 3.80
Adnams - Broadside | 4.70 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Coaster (or Cornish Coaster) | 3.60 | Not Tried
