Owner(?) had no concept of social distancing either behind the bar or chatting to his pals outside.

Major refurbishment going on. Just hope the character of the bar isn't affected. No wifi password for drinkers!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Conwy (Bragdy Conwy) - Minera Mountain Ale4.00AcceptableOK brown beer with no redeeming character.

Busy. Lots of walkers and cyclists.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Great Orme - Merlyn5.00AcceptableNeither beer in good condition. On another day they could both have scored 2* but I like the pub. It's warm and cosy but expensive too. £ 3.45 a pint.

Quiet in the early evening. Maybe keeping 4 or 5 ales on at this time of year is a tad ambitious. Certainly the Orme suffered compared to the same beer in a bottle.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Great Orme - Cambria3.80AcceptableBordering on 2*. Light golden ale dominated by yeasty flavours. No room to taste malt or hops.
Great Orme - Orme Best4.20PoorDark, ruby red with solid white head. Some fruits on the nose but unbalanced in the mouth with no clear focus. Tried in bottle later in the evening and it was different and, much better, beer. Well balanced, plenty of dark fruits and juicy malt.

Very quiet but friendly bar staff. Huge open fire was a real bonus.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Conwy (Bragdy Conwy) - Telford Porter5.60GoodSolid nutty nose. A touch more lactic than the previous sample.

First impressions are that this is a pub with the attributes you'd look for but catering, mostly, to an 'outsider' clientele. £3.60 a pint.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Conwy (Bragdy Conwy) - Telford Porter5.60GoodSolid lactic porter. A little thin for abv but still totally enjoyable.
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Flowers IPA (subsequently contract brewed at Brains)3.60Not TriedStrange that this still seems to have a following in NW Wales.

The pub is found in Rhyd Ddu, Gwynedd, LL54 6TL.

Rhyd Ddu is a popular starting point for walks up Snowdon. It is also a great place for catching the impressine Welsh Highland railway steam trains to Porthmadog or Caernarfon. The Cwellyn is very much a traditional pub with food, hotel or bunkhouse accomodation. Dog friendly too. The bar is all beams and huge open fire but the effect is devalued by the large screen TV advertising pub 'facilities'.

We have visited this pub 6 times, seen 16 different beers and tried 8 of them.
