Visits Details

05 Apr 2006 (Ian)
Early Wednesday evening and we had to wait about 5 minutes at the bar until a table became free. 8 beers were on tap all brewed on site. There was a Camra certificate on the wall commerating a visit. I liked the inventiveness of the brew pub with its beers, but some really didn't work very well.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Pivovarský Dům - Dum Kávové4.00GoodVery dark brown with lasting beige head. Lots of coffee. Bit like the dark star esprewsso stout. The coffee is creamier, still a bit thin in body. Coffee finish is only slightly powdery. This is probably the best of their flafvoured beers that I had. Pleasant coffee aroma.
Pivovarský Dům - Dum Světlý1.00Good Slightly hazy gold with thick white head. Quite herby hop. Again, a bit thin in mouth/watery . But herb/pepper hop is god. Biting hop on end is very good. Some yeast on aroma. Probably the best beer here.
Pivovarský Dům - Dum Tmavý1.00AcceptableBlack beer, lasting beige head. Not a tremendous aroma, some dark malts, quite good in mouth with a drying powder coffe finish. Quite good strength. Cross between a dark lager and a porter. Fine
Pivovarský Dům - Dum Pšeničné1.00AcceptableGreen gold colour cloudy lasting white head. Even after removing the slice of lemon, this was lemony. More a belgian wit than a German weiss. Bit of banana. Again just a bit thin in the mouth but the attack of hop on the end is pretty good. Just lacks a bit of body. Hops and lemon are good. Some cereal but just too thin
Pivovarský Dům - Dum Višňové1.00UndrinkableDeep red/brown with lasting beige. Black cherry aroma, touch of vanilla. But that’s where the good bits stop. This is deeply tragic. I mean this is so bad, i can’t believe. Tastes of chalky soluble aspirin with some vague cherry flavour floating around it. No depth of flavour. This is awful

The pub is found in Prague, Czech, 12044.

On Jecna, 10 minutes walk up from Wenceslas Square. Bit more upmarket than the usual beer hall. Beer memorabilia in evidence. Bit plate glass windows. Dark wood and cream walls and ceiling with black and white checkerboards tiling. Wooden tables and chairs. Can get busy and tables were reserved in advance. Service as we found everywhere in Prague was mostly sullen but efficient. Brews its own beers.

We have visited this pub once, seen 5 different beers and tried them all.
