30 Sep 2015 (Stephen Harris)
7pm for the first stop on a local CAMRA Pub Crawl. Just seven members gather and we stand out on the pavement for a slightly quieter life away from the rush hour crowds within. A house beer from Stod Fold Brewery is also available.
Adnams - Prop Hop | 4.00 | | A disappointing, standard Bitter with a very soft mouthfeel. Not enhanced by the use of sparkler and swan-neck dispense. |
Adnams - Lighthouse | 3.40 | Not Tried
16 May 2015 (Wittenden)
Mid Saturday morning: a few breakfasters and drinkers. This pub now belongs to Kent's own Hush Heath Vineyards as part of their Cunning Plan chain.
Rooster's - Blind Jack | 3.70 | | Mid brown, creamy lasting head.Thick assertive hops. Good flavour for the abv. |
Twickenham (also uses sub-brand Old Hands) - Naked Ladies | 4.40 | Not Tried
Blackjack - Honey Trap | 4.50 | Not Tried
15 Jan 2014 (Stephen Harris)
Still busy with commuters at 8pm. My pint was over-priced at £4:20.
Sambrook's - Wandle | 3.80 | | Inexplicably served with a thick, creamy head. This dumbed a good beer down to near blandness. |
West Berkshire - Good Old (or Ordinary) Boy | 4.00 | Not Tried
Sambrook's - Junction | 4.50 | Not Tried
23 Apr 2012 (Stephen Harris)
An un-planned visit, entering when I saw the Dark Star pump-clip through the window. Dimly lit inside, crowded and boisterous with City-types as the rush hour peaked at 6:30pm.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Still a classic, golden, hoppy ale. This example quite mature, with a mellow, resinous character. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Bombardier (was Bombardier Glorious English) (use Eagle entry now please) | 4.10 | Not Tried
