A fairly quiet Saturday afternoon. I admired the George & Dragon mosaic and wondered why on earth somebody changed the name of this pub.

I came here thanks to Mr. Croxford's review on this site, and many thanks indeed, a truly splendid pub that I would have otherwise passed by. There were four ales on offer but unfortunately I did not make a written note of them, and my attempt to upload an entry to this site using the pub's wifi failed.

12:45 2nd stop on my RI tour. First visit here, very impressed. One big room now, but the original divisions can be seen from the floor mosaics and the different ceiling patterns. I enjoyed showing the barman the features that he was unaware of such as the painted repair to the tile in the George & Dragon picture caused by shrapnel in the Second World War.

Not particularly busy at around 7pm, with most of the customers standing outside enjoying the warm weather.
Crouch Vale - Yakima Gold | 4.20 | | More amber than pale and more mellow than I remember this beer from the past, but still with a good US hop flavour. |
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Truman's Runner | 4.00 | | Still rumoured to be brewed at Everards as the Truman’s people continue to seek an East London premises in which to brew. This example brown, bland and a little sour. Nevertheless, most people seemed to be drinking this one. |
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA | 3.80 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Bombardier (was Bombardier Glorious English) (use Eagle entry now please) | 4.10 | Not Tried
