The pub is found in Woolwich, Greater London, SE18 6JY.
Located in Green's End just down from the DLR station and on the very edge of Beresford Square with its recently reduced size street market. Originally a Beasley's Brewery of Plumstead tied house taken over by Courage in 1963. A market traders' and market users' pub. A single storey building with two entrances but one internal bar. On one wall there is a superb mural (now partly obscured by a large screen TV) showing Woolwich's Beresford Square in the late 40s or early 50s (certainly whilst trams were still running). It atmospherically shows cobbles, trams, tramlines, costermongers and their bustling stalls and the heavy security presence on the Woolwich Arsenal main gate. Mainly a lager haunt but keeps up a real ale presence from 3 handpumps. At one time regularly sold Brains Bitter. Handpumps removed in 2022.
We have visited this pub twice, seen 3 different beers and tried 2 of them.
