Evening visit, there was a small group talking very louIdly in the left hand bar so i went to the one on the right (the former public bar) which I had to myself. I could not avoid the conversation in the other bar which centred around their pub scoring system which seemed to be based on points out of ten for the cheapness of the beer and the quality of the Fosters or whatever.

Shepherd Neame - Howling Wolf4.50GoodThis is what I came in here to try. The Sheps monthly cask for November, it is brewed in collaboration with Mallaskoski of Finland. Too much vanilla flavour for me but still a good pint, I did not detect the smoky finish described in the tasting notes.

Early evening visit before heading for a nearby Chinese take away. I had a chat with one of the customers about the Red Lion in Llandovery.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Northern Lights (collaboration with St Erik's)4.70ExcellentDescribed as a blueberry IPA this beer was brewed in collaboration with St Erik's Brewery and will be available throughout October 2019. A very tasty pint but I do not get the taste of blueberries as some people do. Looking forward to the Howling Wolf in November.

Oh dear, football was on the television, and the pub was full of people shouting at the screen. The beer was O.K. but I left as soon as possible to escape from the noise.

Continuing the theme of last Sunday we thought this would be a good vantage point to watch Ashford Carnival Fairly busy with quite a few people standing outside it was nice to see that they trusted people with real glasses instead of plastic ones

Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70GoodA good pint of Master Brew don't think you'll get a better pint of this anywhere else in Ashford

Very much a local working class pub in South Ashford. I like the honesty of this pub. Sheps pub with normally only Master Brew on, but sometimes the is another beer as well.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70GoodI thought that this was pretty good. Nice yeast on aroma and some good citrus biting hop on finish.

When I was at the Rare Breed's beer festival the week before, the CAMRA members from Ashford I spoke to, said that this was the best pub in Ashford. So I had to check it out didn't I? I sat in the garden and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my pint.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70ExcellentThe caramel in this was sticky and juicy. The traditional yeast aroma was there as well as dusty biting hop. Just really surprised and delighted by it.
