15:25 Time for another pub so came to look at the seafront and try this place. Now called the Stage Door Tap. Reasonably busy, informed barman.

22:30 visit. A train from Bootle to Central and a change there to go to the end of the line finds me in New Brighton, my last port of call today, my "basecamp" for five days, and the end of my first Mersey Meander? It's been a great experience, and although I've discovered a lot of Merseyside for the first time, I've really only skimmed the surface. A return visit must be planned for 2013 for sure...

18:30 visit. Finally arrived at my "base camp" for the next five days? Pub wise, top class with some decent LocAles on. Very convivial atmosphere and the restaurant looked busy with it's evening carvery menu, also available M-F 12-3. I was a bit wary of the shared facilities, but, the clean, quiet, warm and very comfortable room, on the second level, was spot on and put this minor detail to one side. (En-Suite is extra). The breakfast was hearty and very plentiful too. Conveniently located, a short walk to the buses and New Brighton Metro station with there regular connections to the City Centre and beyond. Recommended.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brimstage - Trapper's Hat3.80ExcellentVery nice too. Brewed about 4 miles down the road. Due to the weather, I stayed put tonite and enjoyed the ale...
Lancaster - Black4.50ExcellentA top tasting Stout, from the far north end of the Lancashire coastline.
Lancaster - Amber3.70GoodIn perfect condition.
Lancaster - Straw3.60GoodPossible new for me. Very nice too, not over pronounced notes.
