1545-2025 our final stop and venue for our group tonight, fairly quiet on arrival our group soon swelled during the evening as well as many locals coming and going. Again we were kindly supplied with free bar snacks which are always welcome. As with the other pubs today this is my first visit, very impressed and a rare find these days.

Pub 8. Propper old school. Best pub in Colchester yet. Like a country pub and apparently hasn't changed for 50 years. Owned by the Colchester brewery.

Mid-afternoon on a lovely sunny day, at a time when the pub is quiet. Only the Oddie is eccentric enough to have a log fire blazing and a Christmas beer on the bar in this kind of weather. Time stopped still in here in around 1977, and it must have been the wintertime. Some beers have progressed to £2:98 a pint.
Harwich Town - Redoubt Stout | 4.20 | | An unusual, fruity Stout with a dry finish. |
Cliff Quay - Clipper | 4.30 | | An easy-drinking Pale Ale. |

17:15 Last stop. The best was definitely saved until last. Excellent Landlord great pub. The Landlord is threatening to retire so visit while you can. Walked back to the Town station from here and on the way I was hit by a quarter of a pizza thrown from an upstairs window. Definitely a first for me.

Evening. ChrisE had left by my arrival to the same group. Pub birthday party meant half priced ales at a nice unrounded £1.44 pp. Pub packed as you would expect. Very traditional boozer atmosphere.

Mauldons - Silver Adder | 4.20
Oxfordshire Ales - Six Nations Porter | 5.00 | | Nearly a food |
Dow Bridge - Fosse Ale | 4.80 | Not Tried

Greene King - Tolly Cobbold Tolly English Ale | 2.80 | Not Tried

Early evening, I was impressed by the good value and clearly displayed pricing on the pump clips. Beers were individually priced to odd pence, such as £2.86 or £2.87 per pint, no continually rounding up to the next 10p every time beer goes up by a penny in this pub. Tonight was the landlord's birthday and at 6pm all prices were reduced for the rest of the evening with cask ales on offer at an amazing £1.40 per pint.
Dow Bridge - Fosse Ale | 4.80
King Beer (formerly W.J. King) - Brighton Best | 4.00 | | This beer was one of the first to run out. |
Piddle (Dorset Piddle) - Thunder Box Porter | 4.50 | | Full bodied black ale with fruity flavours. |
Adnams - Lighthouse | 3.40
Dow Bridge - Gladiator | 4.50
Greene King - Tolly Cobbold Tolly English Ale | 2.80 | Not Tried | This replaced the Adnams Lighthouse when that beer ran out. |
