Three rooms, one a public bar. Lots of stuffed fishes under glass. Plenty of staff on so very efficient service.

It might be in the middle of nowhere, but this pub was crammed at Sunday lunchtime and it was traffic gridlock outside. I squeezed on to the end of a pew in the front bar for a quick mid-ramble refresher.

Brakspear (at Marston's Wychwood) - Bitter3.40GoodAs a refresher, this pint worked well, although fruity, tangy, traditional, brown bitters are no longer really my favourite style.

The pub is found in Aston, Berkshire, RG9 3DG.

A marvellous, Victorian country pub in an off-the-beaten-track location. Acquired by the local Brakspear’s Brewery in 1884, it was rebuilt in 1890 as a hotel, to cater to fishing and boating parties, as well as the local ferry traffic. It has a substantial, high-ceilinged lounge and a smaller saloon bar, the latter really more of a public bar in character. Glass cases full of stuffed fish are everywhere, along with assorted mammalian taxidermy and other interesting clutter. Rear garden.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 5 different beers and tried 1 of them.
