Thursday, mid evening. A few eaters in. This was allegedly Nelson’s local - he was born a short walk away. The front of the pub has 3 separate areas, all looking to be original. To the rear is a large, modern restaurant extension. I sat in the smaller front snug “where Nelson used to sit” then had a tot of rum and enjoyed the audio visual show of his life playing in a small detached building outside.

The pub is found in Burnham Thorpe, Norfolk, PE31 8HN.

Lovely old pub in Walsingham Road. with Nelson connections. Extended in recent years but the original central room is a gem. As usual for North Norfolk food is the focus and the pub will be full of diners, but "off-peak" it is an atmospheric place to enjoy a beer. Bought in 2019 by Holkham Estate from Greene King with avowed plans to re-open as a pub. Finally re-opened in 2021 after 5 years of closure and operated by Woodforde's Brewery. Totally remodelled before reopening in July 2021. The original room with the settles survives, though beer is now served from the adjoining bar. Beyond the "old" room is a large glass and stainless steel extension. Large dining room and large garden too.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 2 different beers and tried both.
