This pub reopened today after a closure period of just over two years. The plan is to have two cask beers on offer although only one was available tonight.

Early evening and only a few in, I waited at the bar for a few minutes for someone to appear, I was served and the bar person seemed to vanish again. Good value at £2.09 per pint.

Thursday afternoon, fairly quiet, and generally much nicer since its refurbishment. Two real ales on, and Brains SA was coming soon.

This place has recently had a face lift, and looks much more welcoming than previously. Unfortunately on this Wednesday afternoon the place was almost deserted.

By Ashford standards, Deuchars IPA is pretty exotic. I got tempted into the pub by the pumpclip. The pub is an average town centre large drinking house, bit plusher than a Spoons. Thursday evening 5pm, and I was celebrating some good news from work.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA3.80PoorCloudy pint. Lasting thin head. Just on the turn I'd guess. Suppable bitter, soft, some hop sting, but I would have been embarrased to serve this to anyone.

I was passing this on my way home from work so thought I should pop in as it has been open a couple of months now and should have settled down. Annoyed at the fact that I asked for Adnams Bitter as the pump clip was up, but they said it was off but didn't bother turning the pump clip around. Instead I had a pint of Courage Directors that was too cold. Not much atmosphere, but the other customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. My first pint of English beer in a pub since coming back from America and Canada. That was a bit of a shock. Where are the huge hops and high alcohol levels?
BeerABVScoreNotes
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Courage Directors (use Banks's entry now please)4.80AcceptableIt was clear brown/amber with a disappearing head. It was served way too cold. It had some toffeeish malt and some hop character. Pretty standard low flavour bitter.
