12:15 Having a day travelling around the DLR ticking off flyovers, curves, and crossovers I felt the need for a beer and a toilet break. Having arrived at Tower Gateway this seemed the obvious choice. The Guvnor used me as a foil to wind up one of his mates and then recognised me, not bad for my third visit, and we then had an interesting conversation about pubs and beer in the vicinity. Noting Mr Harris's comment about the CAMRA discount I wish I had remembered my recommendation. The perils of old age.

Early evening and quite busy. I wish I had remembered Mr Croxford’s mention of a CAMRA discount – I’ve been using this pub on an occasional basis for years and had no idea that a discount was offered.

16:30 Went to see the poppies at the Tower of London. Impressive. Needed a sit down after shuffling through the crowds so came here as the nearest GBG. Very welcoming Landlord. Offered me the CAMRA discount as he assumed I was a member based on my questions about the beers. Bit disappointing choice based on the description in the latest GBG.

Gosh I’m good at spotting celebrities. Yesterday I spotted Dame Shirley Williams on the bus and then on the way here tonight I had to side-step to avoid bashing in to Neil Kinnock. But as my mate pointed out in here, I was just showing my age and wouldn’t know a Miley Cyrus or a Kim Kardashian if I tripped over one on the way to the bar.

The pub is found in City, Central London, EC3N 1DT.

Interesting two level pub at the bottom of an office block in Minories near Fenchurch Street railway station. Supposedly the building was earmarked to be the Gestapo HQ had the war gone the other way. Closed in 2017.

We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 5 different beers and tried 4 of them.
