Mid-afternoon on a Sunday and quiet. My pint was served ‘banked’ in the manner described by ChrisE – first time I have come across this.

My first visit here, it was just before 12:00 and the doors opened at exactly the 12:00 opening time. We were asked whether we wanted the Cameron's "as it comes" or "banked". I had never had a banked pint (a North East tradition which gives a massive head well above the top of the glass) so we had one of each for comparative purposes. We were shown around the various unspoilt rooms, and the pipe that leads from the brewery to the pub garden which the landlord says was used to pump beer directly from the brewery to cellar tanks in the pub. Not sure about that.
