Just after 1100 and start of a friend's 60th birthday pub crawl. Quiet only a couple of other customers during our 45 mins or so stay.

Mid-evening visit on a Sunday. Quiet (in terms of numbers) but no corner of the pub was exempt from the very loud music. Detritus on most tables suggested it had been busier earlier on. Not the kind of atmosphere I like and I did not linger.

Evening. Visit prompted by Chelmsford CAMRA magazine Thirsty Times Summer 13 edition write up. So far the garden electric canopy has been fitted. From September (short period of closure planned) internal re-design will take place. From my first visit experience this did not seem a particularly real ale oriented venue. Live music gig in garden being piped into the bar.

Large single bar pub in Duke Street - parts are dark wood panelled. Pool table by corner entrance. Small raised dining area at the back left. Outside drinking area equipped with electrically operated overall canopy - often used for live music gigs. In mid 2013 undergoing refurbishment and upgrade. 2 banks each of 2 handpumps. Offers a real ale price discount for CAMRA card holding members on SOME ales.
