About The Shakespeare

The pub sign. The Shakespeare, Margate, Kent

The pub is found in Margate, Kent, CT9 5AQ.

In Canterbury Road this street corner pub on the sea front is now the nearest to Margate railway station although being on the west side of the Station Approach does not benefit from passenger flows from station to main town and tourist sandy beach. Carries a Shepherd Neame sign depicting a Southern Railway locomotive of that name. Not listed at October 2013 on Shepherd Neame's website so ownership is unclear but believed to have recently been sold as a free house. A single handpump on the bar counter which was not in use at October 2013. Re-opened in autumn 2023 after a period of closure and was selling 3 cask ales then.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 0 different beers and tried them all.
