Saturday lunchtime,the mid point of our journey North. Comfortably middle aged and middle class in the Midlands.We sat in the classically proportioned dining room off the bar.

We sat in the cool of the side bar on a sticky July lunchtime.The pub was busy with a largely middle aged trade.
