Mid to late-evening on a Sunday and the pub is in a relaxed sort of mood.
| Brewsmith - Brewsmith Bitter | 3.90 | | Pale gold in colour, dry and hoppy. |
| Tavernale - India Brown Ale | 5.10 | | A brown beer with lots of hops. |
| Bad Co. - Love over Gold | 4.10 | | A bitter-sweet, heavily-hopped, golden beer. |
| Hand Drawn Monkey - Mango IPA | 4.80 | | Strong, unsubtle, mango flavour with ‘dusty’ hops over the top. Didn’t really work for me. |

Late Sunday evening visit. Not exactly empty, but spared the mad central Newcastle crowds of Friday or Saturday evenings.
| Marble - Marble and Now Then. Collaboration | 3.70 | | Pale gold and a little hazy. Smooth. Very hoppy – so much hoppy stuff going on here that I would really like to know the ingredients. |
| Tavernale - Golden Hop | 3.60 | | Golden and cloudy. Very bitter. Dry-hopped. |
| Tavernale - Cyclone Extra Pale | 4.00 | | Very pale gold (lager malt). Well-hopped, very bitter. |

Mid-evening and crowded. I’ve taken an instant liking to this place. Three stouts on tonight.
| Lakeland (formerly Stringers) - No 2 Stout | 4.00 | | Top notch, dry, black, roasted stout. |
| Tavernale - Highway 61 | 3.60 | | An American Red Ale. Sugar and spice and everything nice. |

26 Oct 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Late evening visit. The pub is busy, but, unlike most of its neighbours, it does not have a door policy or a queue to get in on a Saturday night. Robert and I sit at the bar talking beer, or perhaps it was the beer that was talking. One or the other.
| Out There - Celestial Love | 5.10 | | A red ale. |
| Tavernale - Bishop's Daughter | 4.10 | | Described as a Porter, but we both think it tastes like an Oatmeal Stout! |
| Wylam - Angel | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
| Waen - Blackberry Stout | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Botanist - Humulus Lupulus | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Wylam - Gold Tankard | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Lincoln Green - Tuck Porter | 4.70 | Not Tried | |
| Dark Star - Green Hopped IPA | 6.50 | Not Tried | |
| Wylam - Tavernale (house beer) | 4.00 | Not Tried | |

An excellent, revamped pub in the busy Quay district. As well as a couple of good new beers, I also enjoyed my Haddock & Chips lunch.
| Tavernale - Sneaky Peak | 4.10 | | An amber-coloured pint, brewed on-site and served with a creamy head. Well-hopped with lush New Zealand hops. |
| Stod Fold - Blonde | 4.10 | | Tasty, golden pint from a new, Halifax-based brewery. |
| Redemption - Trinity | 3.00 | Not Tried | |
