A much more satisfactory visit than the last time I came in a couple of years ago and no real ale was available. Quite a good Sunday lunchtime trade, considering that no food is sold here – and no exception being made today because it is national Yorkshire Pudding Day.

The pub is found in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF1 1PQ.

A proper Yorkshire pub in Cross Square. Tiled frontage. Front area is narrow with built in seating. Rear opens up to a large room where the bar counter is situated. Worthy of note is the curved acid etched window in the frontage that features the Bowing Courtier logo of the long gone Leeds brewery Melbourne. Alternative entrance is on Bread Street.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 7 different beers and tried 2 of them.
