Evening. Surprised to see such a barn like left hand room. Live music in progress which was very good.

Transport difficulties by train from Brighton to London mean I unexpectedly have time to kill in Lewes. If I’ve been in here before I don’t recall it – maybe some years ago when I toured around some of the Beard’s Brewery estate?

The pub is found in Lewes, East Sussex, BN7 2DG.

Previously Lamb Inn, an ancient, town centre pub with low ceilings and a curved frontage to Fisher Street. It was formerly tied to Beard’s Brewery and stood across the road from the location of the brewery itself. Now the only survivor of four pubs on Fisher street. Much modernised inside, the focus is on live music, although it retains a pleasant bar area with a real fire. It is the HQ of the Waterloo Bonfire Society which takes part in Lewes’s annual Bonfire Night pageant. Right hand bar is cosy and the left hand one is a barn of a room with a high beamed ceiling. 4 handpumps in each room make a total of 8.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 5 different beers and tried 1 of them.
