Visits Details

There have been a few changes here since my last visit. The venue is much more of a bar now, rather than a warehouse. The long shelves of beer bottles at ground floor level are now replaced by an impressive line of fridges, meaning that all beer is ready to be drunk on the premises.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fuerst Wiacek - Eat the Salad5.80ExcellentFrom keg. A German brewery with a very good reputation, and this certainly does not disappoint. Cloudy pale gold. Smooth and juicy, fresh and gorgeous. On the verge of five stars.
Wicked Weed - Oblivion8.70ExcellentUS beer from keg. Red wine barrel-aged to the point where it tastes more like wine than beer.
Wicked Weed - Oaxacan8.60ExcellentFrom keg dispense. Orange-coloured and hazy. Sour, with a long dry aftertaste. Citrusy. Listed as being ‘smoked’, although I’m got getting that flavour.

I had not planned to come here at all and was on my way to Anspach & Hobday to see what they had on their newly-installed handpump when I spotted large crowds here, spilling out on to the street. It turns out that there is a Mikeller / Warpigs Tap takeover that I knew nothing about and could not resist. Lots of familiar faces here and my wallet is soon drained.
BeerABVScoreNotes
WarPigs Brewpub - Reptilian Overlord IPA6.20ExcellentFrom key-keg. Golden with a huge head. A big, flavoursome IPA.
WarPigs Brewpub - Foggy Geezer8.00ExcellentFrom key-keg. Golden and murky, with bitterness and depth. Judging by the name, it is in fact a ‘London Murky’, albeit all the way from Copenhagen.

Early evening. This place has developed considerably as a drinking venue. Tonight there were bars open on two floors, with plenty of people arriving for a comedy show later in the evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dugges - All the Way4.20ExcellentOn keg dispense. A Swedish beer that packs a hoppy punch above its weight.

Many beers on. I drank 2 pints of Alesmith Speedway Stout on draught.

My how this place has grown since I was last here. Now has seating on two levels and an expanded bar area. Four or five beers available on draught tonight, to supplement the huge bottle selection.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Belching Beaver - Peanut Butter Milk Stout5.30ExcellentA delicious beer. Jet black and thick, smooth and slightly sweet. Tastes of peanuts.

A new Bermondsey Beer Mile halt for me, and a good addition to the local beer scene I thought.
BeerABVScoreNotes
To Øl - Sundancer2.70ExcellentFrom a bottle. Golden and hazy. Good US hop tastes in a low strength beer.
To Øl - Blossom5.10ExcellentFrom keg. Five different flower blossoms used in the brewing of this beer, plus loads of hops. Gives a very complex, bitter-sweet flavour.
