12:30 Looking for lunch midway between home and Buxton and remembered this place. As welcoming as the last visit, especially from the locals as the presence of strangers supposedly encouraged the Landlord to put more wood on the fire.

13:15 We were on our way to Merseyside and looking for a GBG guide pub for lunch. What a find, a traditional pub run by a friendly Landlord who has been here for twenty years. Some youngsters came in for coke and sweets. Something I haven't seen for years. One of the local CAMRA branch members was brought in from the garden to meet me. All in all a great experience. A proper pub.

Three roomed pub in the centre of the village, handy for the A1. There are two rooms of lounge bar standard and a public bar to the rear. The Off-sales hatch is still in place.
