The contrast from the homely little pub at the other end of the village could not be greater. Most customers here at Sunday lunchtime are in for the food – but there is good beer and a 30p a pint CAMRA discount.

This large pub was established by 1868 as the New Inn, and stands on the main road through Commonside, Barlow. Renamed the Tickled Trout, the pub underwent a very extensive internal modernising in 2014 and has emerged as a smart, modern house with an Italian restaurant and a comfortable bar area.
