18:00 Having been a regular York drinker for over thirty years I smugly thought I had visited every pub within the City Walls. On our way to the Masons Arms we passed this place. Not only had I not visited I didn't even know it existed. Interesting building, a nineteen-sixties rebuild but with ancient wooden beams framing the bar and a canopied alcove over the fireplace. Good basic pub.
The pub is found in York, North Yorkshire, YO1 6DS.
On Skeldergate by the River Ouse, said to be the home of the ghost of George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham. A one-roomer it has many oak beams inside, a stone floor and an open fire in Winter. Popular with sports fans. It became famous for still serving during the September 2012 floods.
We have visited this pub once, seen 1 beer and tried it.
