14:00 Having ticked off the Saturdays only train from Retford to Grimsby we came here for lunch. Absolutely packed. We got the sole unoccupied table. Worth noting that both bars need checking as they had some different beers between them.

After having our eardrums battered in two nearby pubs, and turning our noses up at several more, we finally found Saturday night sanctuary in here. Half of Grimsby seemed to have the same view of the miserable selection of town centre pub opportunities, and this pub was packed.

The pub is found in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, DN31 1JN.

A very large, JD Wetherspoon house in Grimsby town centre. The bar areas occupy a considerable floor space. A long-standing pub and hotel which was taken over by Wetherspoon’s in 1997. Does not currently function as a hotel. A listed building that was saved from demolition during the manic rebuilding frenzy of the 1960s.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 16 different beers and tried 3 of them.
