Late afternoon visit and this marvellous pub is quiet.
Spitting Feathers - Thirst Quencher 3.90 Pale gold in colour. Crisp. Nice hops and biscuit malt. Front Row - Red Roses 4.50 A black, creamy Stout with chocolate and cherry. Late afternoon visit for a Christmas meal meet up. Atmospheric venue with good food service but choked up on bar service by once a year types.

Mid afternoon and quiet. I loved the sepulchred atmosphere to this place.
Spitting Feathers - Thirst Quencher 3.90 Earthy and bready but it grew on me once the initial chill was lost. Spitting Feathers - Thirst Quencher 3.90 Just. Took the first one back as it was very cloudy. Two or three were then pulled off but my replacement was still not as clear as I would like. 22:00 As the Brewery Tap was opposite our hotel this seemed the best place to end the evening. Busy in both rooms.

A historic former Jacobean banqueting hall in Lower Bridge Street reached by steps. The interior has stone floors, high ceilings and wall tapestries in a building formerly known as Gamul House The building has seen various uses but in November 2008 opened as a pub operated by Spitting Feathers Brewery. It is accessed via steps up from the street and it has two rooms, one primarily used for dining. 8 handpumps, 1 usually selling a cider.
