The pub is found in Marylebone, Central London, W1U 4AP.
Single room pub. The most interesting features are the panelled walls. The former floor plan would have included at least two rooms and this is reflected in the wall covering. The left hand side would have been the Public Bar, with the right Hand side the Saloon. This can be seen in the far higher decorative standard of the left. Each panel has a border of marquetry in stratified lines, a unique feature as far as I know. Seating is mainly free standing padded benches. There is a brass plaque on the door leading to the stairs stating Winchester Club. There is a hanging sign but it has a picture of Winston Churchill rather than the pub name. The pub is opposite a car park which has been in existence since 1966 when housing was cleared and proposed re-development never happened. Closed in August 2017 for a major refurbishment. Re-opened autumn 2019.
We have visited this pub once, seen 4 different beers and tried 1 of them.
