At last - a proper smelly shabby scruffy run down pub with a decent beer range ticks all my boxes, superb! I sat in the main bar just one other chap in situ for my early evening visit.

17:20 Very quiet. Interesting chat with the Landlord about the beer selection, and with a regular about the history of the pub.

Back street corner local in Rupert Street, dating back to 1867. The original pub was only the current corner bar area. Over the years the pub has expanded into two adjacent properties and an extension has been added behind the original pub. Interesting plaster frieze with painted barrels and roses. Further rose designs on the floor and ceiling. Watercolour picture shows the pub in the Fifties. Two Lacons ceramic falcons decorate the exterior.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 9 different beers and tried 2 of them.
