12:10 We were driving the Black & White route through West Herefordshire and I wanted to revisit this pub having last been here in 2005. My inherent stupidity came into play as I had misread the opening times and missed the fact that the only lunchtime sessions are Wednesday and Sunday. Luckily the Landlord was outside varnishing the window frames and took pity on an old fool and his chauffeur. We than sat and had a lovely conversation about the pub, his life and times and the state of the world.

Shoes - Farriers' Beer15.00ExceptionalWow! Beyond a barley wine. Starts as a beer and has a further fermentation with a wine yeast. Rich, hangs about the palate. I would love a glass with Stilton.
Shoes - Cannon Bitter Green Hop4.10ExcellentSuperb green hop beer
Shoes - Peploe's Tipple6.00Not Tried

The pub is found in Norton Canon, Herefordshire, HR4 7BH.

An unspoilt gem, on CAMRA's Heritage site for its regional importance. Two timeless rooms, an air gun shooting gallery at the rear and the Shoes brewery beyond. There is a local air gun league and the season starts in October. The quoits table is notable.

We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried 2 of them.
