16:00 Once again we were the only customers. The cellar bar wasn't open but the manager kindly opened it up for us to have a look. We sat in the upper room and had a long discussion about a Royal Standard hanging on the wall. Turned out it was the design last used in 1603.

The pub is found in Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 4BP.

In Kettering Road, the first in a small chain of free houses, the others being in Huntingdon and Wellingborough. At one time a greengrocer's, the current tenant initially rented an office on the second floor and then realised the potential for a pub and gradually developed the premises. The Olde England now extends over three floors. The cellar bar, the ground floor with a real fire and no bar, and the first floor with a tiny bar area and one long room with a mediaeval theme. Each bar has a different selection of beers.

We have visited this pub once, seen 12 different beers and tried 1 of them.
