Mid evening unexpectedly quiet just two others in. I sat in the empty upper bar and enjoyed my pint.

We arrived about 10 minutes before Whatpub's advised 1130 opening however the opening time is 12pm luckily the barman kindly opened for us half hour early. My first visit post refurb and the changes are just cosmetic with a lick of paint and new furniture. The upper bar still fulfills its original purpose and not an extension of the dining area. Disppointing no Westerham on today.

Pub closed under major refurbishment, I've no doubt after which it would have lost it's comfortable villagey atmosphere and replaced with some non descript wine bar or trendy restaurant. Pity as I've enjoyed coming here many times and appreciating the pub since my first visit in the late 80's.

Early evening fairly quiet a few outside on a muggy cloudy day. Lovely pub in a similar location and yet to be wrecked dare I say it.

The pub is found in Chislehurst, Greater London, BR7 5ND.

A lovely weatherboard building in a scenic location on the edge of Chislehurst common in Mill Place. There are two separate bars of which the lower is the more spacious but the upper is more popular with regulars. The pub is very popular in summer with people sitting on the grass slope outside. The pub was sympathetically refurbished in 2017 - the interior is brighter as a result. At the same time the beer range was refreshed, with the addition of locally-brewed Westerham beers on a permanent basis particularly welcome. As of November 2017, the pub has introduced a "Monday Club" whereby all real ales are priced at £2.90/pint all day for all customers.

We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 9 different beers and tried 4 of them.
