I used to use this pub regularly in the late 1970s and early eighties when a lady used to hire the upstairs room and sell cask ales for 25p per pint. The whole area has changed since those days and I was surprised to see so many people about. The pub was busy but comfortable and I had a good chat with the landlord about Cask Marque amongst other things, he told me that he always has one cask ale on at £2.95 per pint and it was London Pride today, a pity because I had just paid £4.70 for my Red Fox.

It’s a long time since I was last in here, a pub which I used to cycle past on the way home from work at one time. It’s very quiet here tonight, with just one cask beer on the bar.

A relatively modern conversion to pub use, this pub occupies an historic building, once at the heart of London’s leather industry. It has a smallish, high-ceilinged ground floor bar and a first floor room.
