The pub is found in City, Central London, EC4V 5DY.
This pub was established in around 1820 and traditionally was a Truman’s Brewery house. It is a Grade II-listed building and survived with separate Saloon and Public Bars into the 1970s but had all been knocked through into a single bar by 1983, with a second room at first floor level. It is said to have been nicknamed the ‘Vicars’, but this tradition seems now to be lost. In 1997 the pub was renamed for a while the Hedgehog & Hogshead (although it did not have an in-house brewery, as did some in that chain) before reverting to its historic name. The pub currently serves primarily as a vertical drinking house for City workers, although there is some seating available.
We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried 1 of them.
