Early evening with Robert S. The whole Mercato is crammed with people tonight – indeed I think some of my own work colleagues are tucked away in a corner somewhere eating their Christmas lunch, although I do not see them.

There are quite a few Oktoberfest events going on in London just now and, although I’m about two weeks late for the party here, there are some special beers still available from Anspach & Hobday and Mondo breweries as well as those brewed on site.

The Mercato is thronged on a Thursday evening and this brewery seems to be popular and growing.

My 52nd London Brewery/Tap Room visited this year and probably my last new one. Given that there are in excess of 100 breweries in London, I’m going to have to make this a two year project.

The pub is found in Elephant & Castle, Central London, SE1 6DR.
A microbrewery established in December 2017. The brewery is located within the Mercato Metropolitano development on Newington Causeway. Gleaming brewing equipment stands behind the bar counter and there are dedicated trestle tables for the brewery which is situated in a little alcove off the Mercato. German-style beers are brewed and they are served in the German way (i.e. don’t expect any cask beer).
We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 9 different beers and tried them all.
