There are quite a few Oktoberfest events going on in London just now and, although Iím about two weeks late for the party here, there are some special beers still available from Anspach & Hobday and Mondo breweries as well as those brewed on site.
German Kraft - Fritz Taube5.90ExcellentA murky, amber-coloured, authentic Weissbier. Bananas and cloves, creamy and strong.
Mondo - India Pale Weizen6.50ExcellentA soft, wheaty, strong and hoppy beer. Interesting.
German Kraft - O5.60GoodAmber in colour, this is a classic German Festbier. Malty sweetness.

The Mercato is thronged on a Thursday evening and this brewery seems to be popular and growing.
German Kraft - Hopfen Kiss5.40ExcellentExcellent. Strong and smooth and creamy with a great hop balance. Anglo-German Pale Ale - a whole new category perhaps.
21 Dec 2017 (Stephen Harris)
My 52nd London Brewery/Tap Room visited this year and probably my last new one. Given that there are in excess of 100 breweries in London, Iím going to have to make this a two year project.
German Kraft - Heidi Blonde5.20GoodA good, crisp, golden, Helles-type beer.
German Kraft - Dinkel Bock7.50GoodA golden, malty, strong beer.

Summary of Beer Scores

The pub is found in Elephant & Castle, Central London, SE1 6DR.

A microbrewery established in December 2017. The brewery is located within the Mercato Metropolitano development on Newington Causeway. Gleaming brewing equipment stands behind the bar counter and there are dedicated trestle tables for the brewery which is situated in a little alcove off the Mercato. German-style beers are brewed and they are served in the German way (i.e. donít expect any cask beer).

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 6 different beers and tried them all.
