Saw Andrew’s entry from the weekend and thought I’d revisit this little gem. Locals were aghast at how many people were out on a Monday evening - there were six! Good chat, very good ale (but only the one on).

Kent - Prohibition4.80ExcellentSpot on. One of my favourites.

Pub no 6. This is more like it! What a great pub. Ian knew one of the customers (there were only two in) so we found out some local intel, including the quickest way to our next pub (which apparently meant going up and down a bit).

Kent - Hāpi4.80ExcellentPale gold. Very drinkable.

Another wet walk to get here - but worth it. Been on my wish list for ages. Landlord plus one other in. Landlord told us that he’d been here since 1967 when his mother took it on. Charming place, loved the old prints of Folkestone-especially the one of the Royal Pavilion - majestic building demolished in the 1980s to make way for the Grand Burstin Hotel. Criminal.

Many years have passed by since my last visit thus I'd forgotten what a joy it is to drink here. Not long after opening time and the good beer and jovial atmosphere with a few locals and the long standing guv meant we stayed longer than planned.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kent - Tropic Ale4.90ExcellentExactly as described although upon entry I was under the impression there was no beer on as the clip was turned around which I guess is for the guvnor's benefit so he can see what's available.

Afternoon visit, I was the only customer at first and had a good chat with Richard the guv. I was joined later by one of the locals. A most enjoyable visit.

Sunday afternoon, there was a group of people sitting at the tables outside whilst I had the interior to myself, and of course the guv. A most enjoyable visit to this superb pub.

Early Saturday evening, unusually the saloon bar was open and was being used for those that wished to watch Rugby on the television. I sat in the public bar and chatted with a couple of the locals.

Evening visit not long after the normal 5pm opening, I found the pub fairly full as it had been open since 12:00 being a Bank Holiday Monday. A good friendly crowd in.

A quiet Tuesday evening, it reminded me of the old days in the Rifle Volunteers at Maidstone. I was saddened to hear that Sophie the pub dog has died.

12:00 visit and nearly a year since my last time here too. Four other locals soon appeared, including a couple in there 60's, visiting this very street where they were born and grew up!. The pub dog and guvernor Richard also appeared, who mentioned that he'd been at the pub for over 45 years. A real pub with character.
