Mikkeller - Riesling People | 6.70 | From keg dispense. A murky, yellow/gold IPA. It has a soft mouthfeel, a vinous taste combined with a tropical fruitiness. It was drier than I was expecting, although I notice that other reviewers have called it “very sweet”. |

The pub is found in Shoreditch, Central London, E2 7NS.
This pub in Hackney Road was present as the George & Dragon by 1797 and was rebuilt in its present form in the late nineteenth century. Traditionally a Watney’s house, by the 1980s it had become very dilapidated indeed. A refurbishment of sorts occurred in 2005, but the pub went through periods of closure. Even when open it often appeared to be closed, with shutters down and the door hard to open, and the pub was subject to more than one erroneous announcement of its demise in ‘London Drinker’ which had to be corrected in the following issue. Eventually it did close down, but it has re-opened in October 2018 as the Mikkeller Bar. The bar is a joint venture between Mikkel Borg Bjergsø and pop singer Rick Astley and sells Mikkel’s beer plus guests. The single, small room has received a basic refurbishment and plain décor with some oddly uncomfortable seating. There are 20 beer taps, but no cask beer is sold.
We have visited this pub once, seen 1 beer and tried it.
