I had been to the near by Black Lion which had no real ale available at the time of my visit (I could also find no staff) so I left and found myself in here. A very pleasant surprise to find a traditional friendly boozer, and even better because What Pub at the time (since updated) indicated that the pub would be closed at the time of my visit. I had a chat with a customer who had no idea that pubs used to charge different pubs in different rooms or that Kent once had coal mines.
