Pub split into two halves plus a function room (former skittle alley) at the rear. The public bar was packed on Boxing Day afternoon with not a free table to be found, so we made ourselves comfy in the deserted lounge bar. Poor barmaid had been left in the lurch and was running the place admirably well singlehandedly. I'm sure that the pesky sparklers now on every handpump are a fairly recent addition. I didn't have the heart to ask the poor girl to take the trouble to remove them.

Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Old Original5.20GoodMore like it. Hardwood brown, smooth with definite chocolate notes, although the showerhead attachment did nothing for it.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Sleighbell4.50AcceptableA good three years has passed since I last enjoyed this lovely Everards seasonal. Sadly this didn't quite match up to the fond memories, rather bland and past its peak.

The pub is found in Thurnby, Leicestershire, LE7 9PJ.

Ancient thatched inn, only pub in the village, devastated by fire in 2004 but sympathetically restored a year later and now more popular than ever. Everards range includes the seasonal and a guest beer, usually Adnams.

We have visited this pub once, seen 5 different beers and tried 2 of them.
