Well worth the trip to this peaceful tranquil proper pub despite the unexciting beer range. Just a few folk inside and surprisingly the sun trap beer garden was deserted so opted for there on this late afternoon to early evening visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Speight's - Gold Medal Ale4.00GoodHoney sweet slightly acetic with a refreshing bitter finish.
Mac's - Gold4.00GoodLight bodied refreshing pilsner style ale with hints of citrus and sweet malts.
Panhead - Sandman5.20GoodBetter than expected for this flavoursome hazy tropical fruits broth from one of the big boys.

16.30ish arrival and quiet in this large two bar weatherboarded pub set in a quiet wealthy residential area. After much indecision I sat outside in the well kept beer garden and enjoyed the sunshine on a slightly cooler day of note.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Little Creatures - Pale Ale5.20GoodDry refreshing yeasty fare with a subtle raspberry aftertaste
Panhead - Supercharger APA5.20GoodStrong hopped toasty notes a tad sweet for my palate
Speight's - Mid Ale2.50Not TriedNot a spelling error and yes low ABV too

The Northcote Tavern has been part of Auckland’s North Shore since the 1800s. As you will discover in our history section, there has been a pub on the Northcote Point site since the 1850s. 160 years on ‘The Tav’ is still a place for people to have a drink and hang out with friends and enjoy themselves – as it has always been. But it is now so much more – sport, food, family and community are the key ingredients. There’s still an historic feel about the place but we are now catering for the requirements of the modern community. At the Northcote Tavern you’ll find some of the best bars, dining spaces and outdoor areas in the country. At the same time you will feel like you are in an old English country pub.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 6 different beers and tried 5 of them.
