Easter beer festival weekend and by the Sunday only 7 beers left and during our stay they were dropping like flies, by the time we left, just 3 remained! Tried Marble Chocolate 5.5%, quite yummy. Thornbridge St Petersburg 7.7%, always a bit disappointing and nowhere near as nice as the Dark Star version. The nice surprise was Tower Brewery Malty Towers 4.4%. This was light coloured beer, packed with malty flavour and really refreshing. The best news is that the pub's link with Green King is about to come to an end and there will be a regular pump from Dark Star instead.

Beer festival on here with all handpumps in use. Quite full with locals and passing trade.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Copper Dragon - Black Gold3.70ExcellentServed in top condition, this dark brown mild was full of malt flavours and with a little hoppiness to give a dryish finish. My score 16/20.

Nice welcoming atmosphere - regulars in attendance. Seated areas and excellent sandwiches available for the hungry. A what's coming beer list entices future visits.... Dark Star Critical Mass and 6 Hop headed the list so another trip is imminent.

Dark Star - Victorian Ruby Mild6.00ExcellentThis beer is starting to grow on us.... both in terms of the various tastings over the last two weeks and as we sup our way down the glass!

The pub is found in Crowborough, East Sussex, TN6 1SN.

This generally quite pub is located in a residential area of Crowborough. Run by Dave and Jude, real ale is to the fore with regular mini beer fests and organised trips to others (just missed out on two tickets to the Hove Festival). Not open all day (except Sundays) but worth waiting for the doors to be unlocked at 4.30. Dave regularly has Dark Star beers and a considerable number of pump clips for milds is on display. Really nice food. A wood burner heats the bar. Incredible views from the back garden to watch planes coming in to land at Gatwick in the distance.

We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 10 different beers and tried 7 of them.
