My first drinking hole to visit and as part of CAMRA's London Pubs Group outing to heritage pubs of Eton and Windsor. A fine old pub with very much a community-feel about it with lots of local magazines including CAMRA's. You cannot help but notice all the rowing memorabilia and murals. Books are on sale to raise funds for the local Swan Support charity. Located just yards from the pedestrian Eton Bridge over The Thames from Windsor. A warm welcome from the bar staff member with friendly and prompt service for my mid-afternoon visit. Met up with two others already here from SE London and another arrived just shortly after me. My first visit to Eaton and had earlier found what was for me the excellent Eaton Café. This was followed by a walk around Eton College's grounds and playing fields.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Rebellion - Overthrow4.30GoodGood head and lacing on first being served. A dry and slightly citrusy fruity hopped first hit on this Buckinghamshire-based Marlow Brewery extra pale and as so badged and using 100% Marris Otter pale ale malt. A dry hoppy mouthfeel, from the Fuggle, Goldings and Citra hops, lingering and tasted good despite not holding its head and lacing after the first few sips.
Adnams - Ghost Ship4.50Not Tried
Greene King - Alpha Wolfpack4.20Not TriedA stout by Greene King I have not seen before unlike many of their range from the Bury St Edmunds' brewery, north-east of Cambridge.
