An old corner-street Victorian pub in Eton just yards from The Waterman's Arms and the second of the tour's visit. It is Windsor & Eton Brewery's first pub and faces Eton's pedestrian bridge from Windsor. Superb and ancient-looking wooden carvings make up the side of the bar and the like I have never seen before consisting of clothed female figures and floral motifs. A warm welcome and prompt, friendly service from the bar staff member for my late afternoon visit. Our party of four were all able to be comfortably accommodated in the spacious seating area close to the main front entrance.

Windsor & Eton - Father Thames4.80ExceptionalOne of my party of four was already on this and so a half had to be then sampled by me. This premium bitter had a superb foamy head and lacing, the like of which I have not really seen since my visit to Allsopp's pub, The Blue Stoops, in February of this year. A moreishly dry bitter first hit. A lovely malty mouthfeel derived from its make-up of Berkshire barley and Kentish hops, with a hint of marmalade thrown in, and a slight sweetness from its toffee and caramel infusions. A really pleasant maltiness pervaded the aftertaste.
Windsor & Eton - Knight of the Garter3.80GoodVery good head and lacing on this local brew from over the bridge in Windsor on this golden ale. A pleasantly dry hoppy first hit. A lightly hoppy mouthfeel with a fruitiness from a touch of grapefruit. I was left with a moreish dryness lingering. It was made using premium Maris Otter pale malt and New World whole leaf hops. According to the Brewery, in 2017 it was voted best cask golden ale in the whole of London and the South East.
Windsor & Eton - Windsor Prop4.00Not TriedA pale ale.

Five of us started for an afternoon session joined by another five during the afternoon thus we took over the left side corner of the pub. Other folk coming and going made for a busy afternoon helped by the friendly and efficient landlady made for an enjoyable stay.
