Came here for comfort after my awful experience down the road. Evening - a few local drinkers in. Found an entry for the pub in the 2012 GBG when the local breweries - Old Chimney’s - was the main supplier. Apparently still going but only supplying bottled beer to supermarkets now. Abbot priced at just £4.00 a pint.

Earl Soham - Brandeston Gold4.50Good
Lacons - Norfolk Gem3.60AcceptableGem by name but not by nature. Not sure how a 3.6% can be badged as “best bitter”. One to avoid in future.

Evening - I had a good 1.5 mile walk across farmland to get here. 10 old blokes round the bar and one woman who fitted in well. A short while later - 7 ish - started filling up with old couples for the quiz evening. A proper pub. Good charity book selection. The Compleat Imbiber 7 and 8 for 50p each. Guy leaving the pub with the farewell “Bon Jovi” ! Love it.
