12:30 Second stop. Brought the party here because of the Marquee Club connection. Surprisingly quiet.

Another look at the current Wetherspoon beer festival list.
Tring - Moloko | 4.50 | | A well-flavoured Milk Stout, let down a bit here by flat condition. |
Mordue - Admiral | 4.80 | | A chestnut-coloured, fruity, traditional Bitter with a spicy hop presence. Would have enjoyed it more if condition had not been so flat. |
Harviestoun - Old Manor | 4.60 | Not Tried
Adnams - Extra | 4.30 | Not Tried
Caledonian - Rare Red Rye | 3.90 | Not Tried

15:30 Meal stop. Reasonably quiet. Table next to us had had a three foot tall beer tube. These are known as giraffes on the continent, which I think is a far better name.
Adnams - Sixpoint Make It Rain | 5.00 | | Full of hops along with the thick almost resinous note I find in some American beers. |
Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried
Great Newsome - Frothingham Best Bitter | 4.30 | Not Tried
Windsor & Eton - Knight of the Garter | 3.80 | Not Tried

15:00 Lunch stop. Most unusual 'Spoons we came in the Greek Street entrance which has booth seating and a separate bar only selling fizz beer. The main large hall of the pub was the home of the Marquee club from 1986 to 1996. The name comes from a pioneer cinema entrepreneur.
Windsor & Eton - Koh-i-noor IPA | 4.50
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Adnams - Lighthouse | 3.40 | Not Tried
Windsor & Eton - Knight of the Garter | 3.80 | Not Tried

Crowded; mostly with tourists.
Wood's - Twist Grip | 4.40 | | Amber-coloured. Disappointing, sweetish, rather soapy bitter. |
Wadworth - 6X 90th Anniversary Ale | 6.00 | | Beefed-up version of the regular 6X. All the usual 6X flavours but in spades. Sweetish, tangy Crystal malt. A bit vinous and woody. I think I prefer the regular version. |
Hawkshead - American Red | 4.20 | Not Tried
Caledonian - Lodewijk's Fly by Night | 4.20 | Not Tried
Lancaster - 1842 Pilsner | 4.50 | Not Tried
Batemans - Good George Pacific Pearl | 5.50 | Not Tried

Had a fun exchange with the staff behind the bar.
Highgate - Fox's Nob Premium | 5.00 | | full of buttery diacetyl. I couldn't finish it. |
24 Apr 2009 (Blair)
I actually only stopped in here as I needed to go to the toilet. But as it turned out wetherspoons have an international ale festival on at the moment. Stayed for a half then carried on to The Borderline for the gig I was off to.
Barons - Bush Berry Porter | 4.50 | | Loads of fruit and chocolate in this really interesting porter. |
