Visits Details

18 Jan 2025 (Hogan Sampling)
Busy for my mid-afternoon visit but with others largely standing in the bottle-shop part of this micropub's premises. This front part also doubles as the bar for service and where the cask beers are listed among keg beers and ciders. Once served promptly by the friendly barman, our small party of two retired to the back area with both low and high seating to suit. The premises before first becoming a real ale bottle shop in 2010 and then also a micro in 2014, used to be a doll's house shop.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Surrey Hills - Ranmore Ale3.80GoodGood head and lacing on this local bitter from just outside Dorking. A hoppy first hit on this straw-coloured beer. A slightly citrusy mouthfeel with a moderately hoppy bitterness and a pleasantly dry, moreish aftertaste. According to Surrey Hills' own write-up, it was most recently accoladed with the 2013 Bronze Award in the CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain Competition (for Bitter).
Surrey Hills - Shere Drop4.20Not Tried
Surrey Hills - Collusion5.20Not TriedA collaboration with Cobbetts' beer shop & micropub in Dorking and comes with big citrus and tropical fruit notes. It won the 2023 Silver Award in the Premium Pale, Blond and Golden Ale Category for CAMRA.
