My third visit of the day to Petersfield and its environs and a welcome late afternoon pitstop after my walk back from the sleepy village of Sheet via the outskirts of Steep. Funny perhaps to find even just one cask ale in a French restaurant and where it is reputed to have two. Prompt friendly service though card-payment only and the reverse of my first visit of the day to a cash-only pub from a bygone age. A rather raucous gathering around one of the tables in the courtyard made the visit not such a pleasant pit-stop although we were some tables away at least. We only stayed for one half of Swift before beating a somewhat swift retreat to another that proved much more conducively peaceful.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bowman - Swift One3.80GoodAppropriately named for my swift visit to Annie Jones for this golden ale directly north of Portsmouth. Came with good head and lacing and lasted. A dry fruit-infused first bite. A mild fruity bitterness veering up. A gentle hoppiness lingering whilst playing the odd subtle fruity note or two. Very thirst-quenching and so moreish.

The pub is found in Petersfield, Hampshire, GU32 3EW.

Despite being a French restaurant and cocktail bar, two locally sourced changing cask ales are said to be available from the courtyard‘s covered-bar. Located at 8-10 Lavant Street, it is a narrow single-storey building with just its name over the entrance side passage gate on one side and adjoining on your right, facing the buildings, a two-storey shop-building with an entrance door. Not quite a micropub as doing restaurant dishes. A front room in the single-storey and two-storey buildings overlooking the street and a bar inside in its backroom located in the single-storey building. This leads you to the covered courtyard bar and an outside paved area laid out with tables and seats. Closed: Monday and Tuesday.

We have visited this pub once, seen 1 beer and tried it.
